May 2018

It has been a busy month in the library!

Each Kindergarten group made its own class book based on Dr. Seuss’s ABC. (Kindergartners also presented their humble librarian with a “Thank You Book,” each pupil writing and drawing a page about what they liked about their library.)

First grade spent much of the month engaged in a series of MakerSpace activities.

Second grade practiced finding “Right Fit” books. Students also compared and contrasted various versions of “Hansel & Gretel” from around the world.

Fourth Grade held a successful Poetry Slam in conjunction with the Writing Center. (Thanks Mrs. Lancaster!)

Fifth grade worked to finish their book trailers based on “Chains,” “Wonder,” or “The Veldt.”

Third grade, though, has been busiest of all this month. Students turned the amphitheatre into a living history museum, showcasing aspects of pioneer life for their study of Natrona County History. They also worked in teams to build simple machines, many of which still decorate the library shelves. Also on display are third graders’ “Ingredients of a Mystery” projects. Every student read a mystery and then designed a cereal box–complete with “ingredients” or literary components, graphics, and activities–based on the book!

The end of the year is quickly approaching; still, students are staying busy learning in the library!
